8th Amendment: Bails, Fines, and Punishments

Bail

The eighth amendment states that no person will have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to release someone from prison before they got to trial. This is called bail, and bail money ensures that the person accused of a crime will appear for trial. The eighth amendment also protects people from unreasonably high fines.

Punishments

This amendment also protects citizens from the use of torture as well as cruel and unusual punishmtns. Some people have argued that the death penalty is a form of cruel and unusual punishment.
